September 2015 Outing – Shenandoah River Canoeing

Where:  Shenandoah River, near Harper’s Ferry
Time:   Arrive at the St. Francis parking lot at 7:00 am, September 26, 2013
Return to St. Francis early  afternoon on Sunday, September 27th

Whether this is your first canoe trip or you’re an experienced boater, this 10 mile 2-man canoe trip is ideal for large groups. Paddlers wind their way down river through the scenic Shenandoah Valley, nestled between the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains. Kayaking or canoeing this scenic and mellow river includes navigating small Class I-II rapids, a great combination of relaxation and fun! Blue heron, osprey, and sometimes bald eagles offer great bird watching opportunities.
The Scouts should eat breakfast before they leave home in the morning and bring a snack for the car ride. Lunch will be a late picnic and it is planned and prepared by patrols. Saturday lunch & dinner, and Sunday breakfast are planned and prepared by patrols. Remember to bring water shoes, extra pairs of socks, extra layers (no cotton) for a change of clothes and for sleeping, Also, sun protection is essential. Scouts should wear Class B uniform.
All participants must sign the Release of Liability.
There is a $64 fee for each scout and parent attending (includes $10 transportation, canoe rental, meals & camping). THE TRANSPORTATION FEE IS WAIVED FOR BOTH SCOUT AND PARENT IF THE PARENT IS DRIVING. Registration & payment must be received by Wednesday, September 16, 2015.
Non-driving fee = $64
Parent Driving = $54
Late fee (after Sept 16) = $74
