This November, Troop 55 scouts will enjoy a day hike at White Oak Canyon followed by an overnight camp at the Deer farm on the Rose River. White Oak Canyon has some of the best waterfall hikes in Shenandoah National Park. With six major falls and spectacular heights from 35-86 feet there’s no doubt that this will be great fun and the views will be spectacular.
As always in the fall, scouts need to be prepared for wet and cold weather on the trail and in camp (extra socks/shoes/wicking clothes). Raingear, non-cotton clothing layers, hats and gloves are required.
Scouts must arrive at St. Francis at 6:30 am Sat morning after having breakfast. They should bring a trail lunch and 2 nalgenes for the hike. Scouts will prepare Sat dinner and Sun breakfast in camp as a patrol. They should bring money for a quick lunch stop for the return trip Sunday.
There is a $36 fee for each scout and parent attending (includes $20 transportation). THE TRANSPORTATION FEE IS WAIVED FOR BOTH SCOUT AND PARENT IF THE PARENT IS DRIVING.
Registration & payment must be received by Wednesday, Nov 11, 2015.
Scout with parent driving – $16
Non-driving scout fee – $36
Late fee (after Nov 11) – $46

OUTING GEAR: It is important that scouts pack their own gear so they know what they have with them and where to find it. Not sure what gear to bring?
