Where: Horseshoe Scout Reservation, Peach Bottom, PA
Time:   Arrive at the St. Francis parking lot at 7:00 AM, Saturday, November 18
Return to St. Francis early afternoon on Sunday, November 19

Scouts will enjoy winter camping at Horseshoe Scout Reservation, which is located along the Mason-Dixon line separating Pennsylvania and Maryland. The scouts will be tent camping outdoors in the Campcraft area.

The Troop 55 activity involves an afternoon of the Challenging Outdoor Patrol Experience (COPE) and climbing bouldering/ zip-lining. The COPE activities involve low ropes course elements and custom-built challenge games that will work on problem solving, communication, trust, and team building. Scouts will switch between the COPE exercises and doing the climbing wall, bouldering, and zip-lining. We will bring our trailer with all troop and patrol equipment, and meals are planned and prepared by patrols. Patrols are responsible for lunch and dinner on Saturday, and Sunday breakfast. Scouts should bring money for lunch on the return trip on Sunday.

Scouts must be prepared for cold weather, and should remember the potential need for layered, synthetic clothing when they pack. Rain gear and a warm sleeping bag is a must, as well as a change into warm dry clothes (no cotton) for sleeping, extra layers (no cotton) to add on, and extra pairs of dry socks. It will be cold in the evening.

There is a $65 fee for each scout and parent attending (includes transportation, meals, camping, and activities). THE $20 TRANSPORTATION FEE IS WAIVED FOR BOTH SCOUT AND PARENT IF THE PARENT IS DRIVING.

Early payment price is $65 if registration and payment are received by Wednesday, November 15. A late fee of $20 will apply thereafter.
