Registration for May 2019 Shenandoah Canoeing & Kayaking

Arrive: St. Francis Parking Lot at 7:30 am, Saturday, May 18
Return: St. Francis mid-afternoon on Sunday, May 19

We will be canoeing on the Shenandoah River just above Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Paddlers wind their way down river for about 7 miles through the scenic Shenandoah Valley, nestled between the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains. Canoeing this scenic and mellow river includes navigating small Class I-II rapids, a great combination of relaxation and fun. We will be camping at Brunswick Family Campground in Brunswick, Maryland. Canoeing will start at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday for 2-3 hours, while Saturday evening will feature dinner by patrol. 

We will bring our trailer with all troop and patrol equipment, and as always, meals are planned and prepared by patrols. Patrols are responsible for Saturday dinner, and Sunday breakfast. Scouts should either eat breakfast at home or bring a meal for the car on Saturday morning. Scouts may want to bring a snack to eat during the return trip on Sunday and /or money for a snack if the driver stop. Scouts should remember to protect themselves from mosquitos and other bugs by bringing appropriate spray, as well as extra pairs of dry clothes. Rain gear is always a good idea — even if it doesn’t rain, it is great wind protection.

Cost:  

• There is a $55 fee (includes $10 transportation) for each scout and parent attending.
• TRANSPORTATION FEE IS WAIVED FOR BOTH SCOUT AND PARENT IF THE PARENT IS DRIVING.
• Price goes up to $65 if registration and payment are not received by May 16, 2019.
