February Outing – Seven Springs Ski Trip

Where: Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Champion, PA
Time: Meet at the St. Francis parking lot at 5:00 PM Friday afternoon, returning late in the evening on Sunday.

 

Situated atop the Laurel Highlands of western Pennsylvania, Seven Springs Mountain Resort provides majestic views and some of the best natural snow in the mid-Atlantic region.  With an amazing variety of slopes and trails ranging from the gliding and meandering Fawn Lane to the adrenaline rush of the double diamond Goosebumps – there’s a slope for everyone!

Scouts will have the opportunity to enjoy day time skiing, night skiing under the lights, swimming and bowling.  The resort caters to youth groups.  We will be staying in large chalets with restrooms with showers. The package includes lodging for 2 nights, 2 breakfasts and 1 dinner, and a 2-day and 2-night lift ticket. Ski or snowboard equipment is available for rent.  More information about what to bring will be explained at the Troop meeting.

Details:  We will depart St. Francis Church in Great Falls at 5:30 p.m. by Chariots for Hire coach bus.  Scouts should eat dinner prior to departure and bring snacks for the bus.The bus will pick up the Scouts at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, with an estimated arrival time around 8:30 p.m.

Base package includes:

2-day/night Ski/Snowboard lift tickets,bus transportation, Friday & Saturday night lodging, 2 breakfasts, and dinner Saturday evening, resort fees, taxes, and service charges.

Add-on costs:

2 day Ski rental is an additional $59.00

2 day Snowboard rental is additional $66.00

Two hour group lesson is an additional $52.50

Other additional activities:

The resort also includes an indoor heated pool, hot tubs, roller skatingor roller blading($8 with rental; $6 own equipment), snow tubing 2 hr session ($29), bowling ($8.25 per person per game), snow shoeing ($30 including shoes), and game room (cash required). Scouts should bring extra cash for these activities if interested in event options outside of base package and cash for dinner stop on the bus trip back on Sunday.

Sleeping rooms:Scouts will be staying in one of two lodges, Bedford lodge (holds 22) or Allegheny lodge (holds 18)

**Scouts must bring cash for on your own lunches on Saturday and Sunday.

Required Base Fee of $325

Beginner Ski/Snowboard Lesson ($52.50)

Own Helmet – rental refund($5)                                                                  

Registration information is due no later than Wednesday, January 6th.  We have room for 40 spots (scouts/adults total). Registrations after this date will be placed on a wait list in case of cancellations for unexpected reasons.  If we have interest from more than 40people, slots will be filled based on earliest date of registration with payment.

Reminder: If your son has never skied before, or is a beginner in need of a refresher, please make the decision to sign him up for a lesson now while signing up for this trip.  Last year we had several scouts on the trip that did not know how to ski and were not signed up for lessons.
