February 2017 Outing – Whitetail Ski Trip

When: February 3-5, 2017 (three day holiday weekend, so there is still  Monday to catch up on homework)
Where: Whitetail Mountain, Mercersburg, PA
Time: Meet at the St. Francis parking lot at 6:30 PM Friday afternoon Feb 3rd, returning late afternoon on Sunday, Feb 5th.

Scouts will enjoy skiing/snowboarding at Whitetail Mountain resort in Mercersburg, PA. on Saturday and tubing on Sunday.   The troop will spend Friday and Saturday night at Joy El Camp and Retreats in group cabins – about 25 min from Whitetail Resort.

 The Troop 55 basic package: $225

Includes Friday and Saturday night lodging, breakfast and dinner on Saturday, breakfast and lunch on Sunday, evening snacks, tubing lift ticket on Sunday.  Scouts must select their ski/snowboard options from the choices below.  Ski or snowboard equipment is available for rent, and rental rates include the price of the ski lift ticket.  More information about what to bring will be explained at the Troop meeting.’

 Joy El lodging includes: basketball court & game room (foosball, table tennis, air hockey, fireplace)

Scouts should bring cash for lunch on Saturday (a 25% discount coupon for lunch will be provided)

 

Ski/Snowboard Options (Scouts can ski/board 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday):

All Mountain lift ticket only (have own equipment):  $68

*Group EZ learn to ski or snowboard package*:  $86

**Group all mountain package**: $99

 * Group EZ Learn to Ski or Snowboard – This package is designed for beginner skiers or snowboarders ages 8 and up. Package includes a lift ticket for beginner terrain, rental equipment (includes helmet), and a beginner group lesson at the appropriate ability level.  The lift ticket included is valid on Lift Off Quad, U-Me Double, First Class Magic Carpet, Launching Pad Carpet and Easy Rider lifts – which provide access to only green and blue level trails.

 ** Group All Mountain Package – This package is designed for the skier or snowboarder who is comfortable on all terrain. Package includes a lift ticket that is valid on all open terrain, rental equipment (includes helmet), and a group lesson at your ability level.

 Note: BSA regulations require a helmet.  If you are not renting and plan on bringing your own equipment, but do not have a helmet, you must purchase a helmet rental.

 To secure your place on the trip, full payment is due by Wednesday, January 18, 2017.

You will need to contact Karen Hauda (703-967-4913) to confirm the package/lift ticket and any equipment needs for the adult attending and to discuss accommodations.
This will adjust the fees above - $10 discount to waive the transportation fee for each scout and $10 for the adult attending. Please contact Karen Hauda (703-967-4913) for to determine your additional cost for the adult participant -- it is NOT calculated here. It will reflect your choice for package and/or lift ticket (as noted above), but also depend on the accommodations (whether you bunk with the scouts at Joy El Camp and Retreats or separately.) This additional amount will also be due by Jan 18th to confirm your participation.
