December Outing – Camping Trip, Webelos Visit & Cooking Competition

When:  December 14- 15, 2012
Where: Great Falls, VA
Time:   Arrive at the St. Francis parking lot at 5:30 pm on Friday, December 14, 2012.
Pick up – 6:00 PM at St. Francis on Saturday, December 15, at conclusion of the Cooking Competition.
Note: Scouts will not be not dismissed until all clean-up activities have been completed by their patrol.

Scouts will enjoy car camping at St. Francis Church grounds in Great Falls. Troop 55 will use this opportunity to engage visiting Webelos (10:30 AM – 1PM) with Patrol led scout skills and activities.  Following the Webelos’ visit, the patrol will have their annual cooking competition on Saturday afternoon.  Please Note: This year, parents will not be invited to eat the dinners; however, the uniformed adults will eat with the patrols.

The troop trailer and all the patrol equipment will be available.  Patrols are responsible for planning and cooking Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, preparing sandwiches for Saturday lunch, and cooking Saturday dinner (competition).  To supplement Saturday lunch, adults will cook hot soup for all Webelos and all Scouts.  The Webelos will have sandwiches with the patrols.

Scouts must be prepared for cold weather, and should remember the potential need for layered, synthetic clothing when they pack. Rain gear and a warm sleeping bag is a must, as well as a change into warm dry clothes (no cotton) for sleeping, extra layers (no cotton) to add on, and extra pairs of dry socks. It will be cold in the evening.

There is a $17 fee for each scout and parent attending, and registration and payment are due December 12th.
