August 9, 2020 Outing – C&O Canal Bike and Hike near Paw Paw

When: Sunday, August 9, 2020
Where: C&O Canal Bike Trail at Paw Paw Tunnel Trail Head
Time: Arrive at St. Francis at 7am; Return to St. Francis by late afternoon

The 184.5 mile long Chesapeake & Ohio Canal is located along the north bank of the Potomac River, starting in Washington, DC and ending in Cumberland, MD. We will drive to the parking lot of the trailhead, park the cars there. Scouts will start cycling or hiking along the trail. Scouts will need to bring a bag lunch to eat on the trail. Scouts need to bring your own bicycle and hamlet for biking. Wearing comfortable clothes and shoes on a ride. Scouts must also be prepared hot day when they hike or bike. As always, water bottles, sunscreen and rain gear is always a good idea. Please bring a headlamp for the hike and bike through Paw Paw tunnel, it will be dark inside the tunnel.

Scouts must arrive at St. Francis at 7:00 am. Sunday morning after having breakfast or have brought breakfast with them. They must bring a personal trail lunch for biking/hiking on Sunday.  

Due to COVID-19 safety consideration, we require all scouts and adults wearing masks during car ride,  do not share food and drink, and do their best for social distance. By signing this registration, the participant(s) and the parents agree to the COVID19 risk and liability acknowledgement and agreement (Link here).

There is a $25 fee for each scout and parent attending (which includes a $15 transportation fee). The transportation fee is waived for both scout and parent if the parent is driving.
