Joy El & Whitetail Mountain Resort Ski/Snow-tubing – Bucks Historian Report – Jan. 24-26, 2020

On Friday night, as scouts arrived at the church parking lot, it was soon revealed that the bus that would have taken them to Joy El had broken down, and they must delay for nearly two hours.Once the bus had arrived, all the scouts filed onto the bus and dumped their packs at the back of the bus and settled down for the two-hour ride to Southern Pennsylvania. After arriving, we went to the cabins and to sleep, with everyone excited for the next day’s adventures.

Early Saturday morning, we woke up and ate a leisurely breakfast before heading out for the Whitetail Resort, which was half an hour away. Once we arrived and rented out the necessary equipment, we spent the next eight hours skiing or snowboarding (or neither, in the case of Albert Davidov, who wisely decided to spend his time working on homework), with a break to eat lunch a little after noon. At six in the evening, most of the scouts decided to leave the resort, but a brave few chose to stay and try night skiing. Those who stayed back were able to eat the wondrous food that was the Joy El dinner and dessert. After eating, there were several hours of free time interrupted briefly by a hearty campfire in which everyone participated and nobody skipped. Then, we yet again went back to the cabins to sleep, with everyone excited for the next day’s adventures.

Early Sunday morning, we woke up and ate a leisurely breakfast before heading out for the Whitetail Resort’s Snow Tubing center, which was half an hour away. Once we arrived and turned in the necessary forms, we spent the next two hours tubing, returning to Joy El just in time for lunch. After lunch, we had Sunday Service, and then we packed up our things and went back home on the Joy El bus.
