For this year’s fall First Time Campers program, which took place during the extended weekend for Columbus Day, scouts and other volunteers arrived on Saturday night to begin preparations for the next day’s activities. The next morning, campers began to come in after a quick breakfast was eaten. We set up canopies for the campers and gave them a demonstration on how to set up their tents and how to use the stoves we gave them. Then, we began preparing lunch. After that, while the campers went to their super activities, we began to prepare dinner and cut wood for the campfire. After the campers came back and had dinner, we cleaned the rest of the dishes that the campers didn’t clean while they went to the amphitheater for the campfire. We then spent a considerable amount of time cleaning the Dutch ovens that were used to cook the stew. The next morning, the campers had breakfast and went to the second round of super activities. We began to pack everything up by taking down the canopies, cleaning up the chuck-boxes, etc. Then, we ate lunch and left.
