Whitewater Rafting Trip June 2017 – Bears Historian Report

Whitewater Rafting Trip – June 2017 – Bears Patrol

 by Jason Jin

On June 2nd, Troop 55 went whitewater rafting. We left St. Francis at 6:30 pm. It was a 4-hour ride. We went to a campsite near the Cheat River. When we got there, it was around 11 pm.

After we set up our tents, we immediately slept. The next day, we cooked breakfast. Then, we cleaned up and began to work on advancement. This continued until 11 am. Then, we went on the whitewater rafting.

After we were safety briefed, we started the trip. The first thing we did was go on a small hike to a beautiful waterfall. You could go behind the waterfall, and feel the power of the water as it splashed against the ground. Soon, we went back to our rafts and started going through some rapids. Everybody got soaked, and during the middle, we had lunch. Right after lunch, we went through some more rapids and everyone was soaked again. To our surprise, we finished very quickly after lunch. When we got back to our campsite, we worked on some more advancement.

Soon enough, we started to make dinner. It was long, and took a very long time to clean up. After the cleanup, it was nighttime. We went to the campfire for announcements and some jokes. We went to sleep right after that.

When we woke up, we made breakfast. It was also pretty long, and we had to clean our chuck boxes to get ready for the summer. That took a very long time, like 2 or 3 hours. Then, we packed up our belongings and prepared to do service. Before the service we told some jokes to pass the time. After the service, we went home on the boring car ride, tired but happy from the whitewater rafting.
