September 2016 Rappahannock River Canoe Outing – By Jacob Hochstein (Vikings Patrol)
The September canoe outing was great fun. We stayed in a camp ground near the river that has been persevered for campers such as our troop for over 45 years. Although we very near Fredericksburg it felt like we were in the deep wood.
While paddling on the Rappahannock River we saw many sights including fish, turtles and muskrats. Paddling was fun as well. Along the way, we went swimming and had a great time. I think we’re ready for some white water next time.
That evening while cooking everyone was having fun. The Vikings dessert may have failed miserably but it was fun trying to boiling donuts in a Dutch Oven. A pineapple upside down cake won the cooking competition.
