Trip Report by Jordan B.
Troop 55 had a wonderful outing last weekend just across the river in Potomac, Maryland. Our activity for this outing was the Billy Goat trail, featuring a rocky pathway along the Potomac River and fantastic views of the falls. Even though it was so close to home this was a backpacking outing and the scouts used hiking stoves and packed all their gear into backpacks.
We also focused on advancement for the scouts mostly among the younger kids. Progress towards tenderfoot, first class, and second class is increasing steadily and many of our newer scouts are advancing quickly. This was also the first outing with our new scouts who all had a great time thanks to the help of Brandon Boose and Nick Hodge, even though we did have a few scares. Overall it was a great outing and many of the older scouts even cannot wait to come back next year.
