2014 Memorial Weekend Troop 55 Inaugural Baden Powell H.O.S.T Hike (7.6 Miles)
This is a 5.5 Mile 4~6 Hour Hike for James E. West History of Scouting Trail (H.O.S.T). All scouts and family members are welcome to participate, we will hike as a group. Scouts must wear Class A uniform since this is a public event.
Please register each participant. Last year for 2014 Inaugural Baden Powell HOST hike, we have 8 scouts earned the Inaugural Hike medal. The event also was published in Great Falls Connection(link here) and Sun Gazette (link here).

Date/Time: May 23rd 2015, Hike start at 8:00AM
Location: Washington DC (Exact location TBD)
Registration deadline: May 20th, 2015
Space: Limited space , 30 scouts and adults and family members
2015 James E. West HOST Hike Inaugural Medal Design
Transportation: Carpool or public transportation (bus, metro, etc)
Lunch: bring a lunch, or bring some cash to purchase a lunch
Cost: $16 per person. $10 registration, plus $6 donation to purchase a uniform item that will be donated to financially challenged scouts. These are not only hikes with scouting historical facts – these hikes are also meant to raise funds for inner-city scouting. In addition to proceeds made from the registrations and medal sales, these uniform items will be put to use helping NCAC provide for many scouts who would otherwise financially struggle to participate in the scouting program.
If you have additional uniform item that you like to donate to scouting (any uniform part is acceptable; pants, shirt, hat, neckerchief, socks, belt, etc.), please bring them to the check-in location during hiking day.
The $10 Registration fee does NOT include the medal- that must still be EARNED and purchased for $10 at the end of the hike. A special restricted Council Patch, a participants patch, materials, coupons and (if earned) right to purchase one of the very special medals are included. Please give your earned medal to Mr. Ye so that we can present the medal to you at Troop 55 June Court of Honor.
The hiking miles earned from this event is qualified for BSA National Outdoor Award- Hiking segment miles requirement .
Bring a pencil , water bottles and a day pack, wear comfortable shoe for urban street hiking. Don’t forget sun protection ( sun screen, sun glass, hat , etc). A scout is prepared.
