Sunrise Easter Service at Great Falls National Park – Historian Report

DSCF4574By James Y. (Scorpion Patrol Historian)

On a Sunday on April 5th, a handful of scouts went to the Great Falls National Park to help with the church service. However, it began before sunrise, so all of us had to wake up at early in the morning and get there before 6:15 A.M. Once we got there, we were to pass out the flyers to the people coming in. It was cold and we were sleepy.

After everyone came, they all stood at the stood at the sides of a rampart leading to the Great Falls National Park visiting center while the pastors stood at the top. We listened to them talk and pray, sung songs. Soon, us boy scouts were given baskets to hold and walk up and down the rampart collecting money as an offering to support the Great Falls Ecumenical Council’s ongoing missions. One person put in one hundred dollars!

After the people at the top finished the praying, hymns, and the stories, all the people left. We were needed to pick up trash with the grabbers, though there was nothing to do. Not a speck of trash was anywhere. So we finished our service early, and we all ate, and fought over, doughnuts that Timmy F. brought for us.

After we were finished, we decided to take a group photo by the Great Falls Park sign. Suddenly, Rev. Zuchelli came and jumped into the picture. He told us he once was a cub scout. When we finished our pictures, we all went home. It was a fun experience for me!
