We had an amazing ride to camp. We were able to watch two movies on the way down. Once we arrived to camp, we got all our medical forms straightened out. We then took a tour of the camp. It is an amazing camp with a pool and a lake! Everyone that didn’t do a swim test prior to camp was able to complete one. Once we ate dinner, we went to the opening campfire. They had a bunch of funny skits prepared for us.

We had a great final day of camp. We made sure that we turned in all our pre-reqs and gave our counselors our blue cards. The adult leaders went to all the counselors to double check everything. We were also able to complete our service project which was splitting a bunch of wood and stacking it for the camp. That night, we had a closing campfire. Instead of the staff doing skits, the scouts were able perform their skits in front of the entire camp. Everyone had a blast. That night we had a campfire of our own were we elected a new SPL and assigned the new scouts to their patrols. Everyone had an amazing time at camp.

On Thursday, we all woke up at 7:00 in the morning. WE all then went to breakfast at the dining hall and ate in our patrols. After breakfast the older scouts went to their next badged while the new scouts went to the Dan Beard program. We also participated in the volleyball tournament. Troop 55 had an A team that got 3rd place overall and a B team that lost their first game. During the tournament our troop also participated in an air band competition. Later that night, our troop bought 10 large pizza for the scouts to enjoy during the campfire. Throughout the campfire the scouts all performed skits to entertain each other and when they were done with the skits we did scout vespers and were dismissed to go to sleep.

Today, I woke after a very deep sleep to the “peaceful (it’s actually very loud) call of the wild Nick Taglerini. I put my sleeping bag in my hammock so I slept quite well. For breakfast, we had bacon and some of the best French toast I have ever had in scouts. I went off to archery and Riflery, where Nathan Hauda learned to shoot a bow. He did exceptionally well, and landed in the red or inner blue every time! For lunch, we had some pretty dry burgers and potato chips, but it was enough to last until dinner. We didn’t do much at Wilderness survival.

Today was  a fun day. It started at 7:00 and was fueled by a delicious breakfast of Canadian Bacon, scrambled eggs, and really good hash browns. I had to quickly go to Archery, which is probably my favorite merit badge. I shot 2 arrows and they both wedged into the same hole on the target! It was really awesome doing that. After that, I went on to the riflery merit badge, where I learned about different cartridges and how they do different things. After that, I had a delectable meal of pizza and wings. They were great! Afterward, Daniel Reuss and I went to Wilderness Survival, where we learned how to start a fire with steel wool, a bow drill, or a magnifying glass. Daniel Reuss and I made a pretty good fire.

We got on the bus at the Great Falls Public Library. On the bus many of the scouts were on the phone playing games. It seemed like the scouts were playing on their phones because they were bored. Some of the scouts were sleeping. Some of the stuff didn’t fit under the bus.

The bus ride was long, boring, and we were dying because of no air conditioning.  I didn’t have anything to do on the bus but a lot of scouts were playing games.  On the way to camp it was noise.  All the scouts were talking.  We arrived at camp and unloaded the bus. It took awhile to unload the bus because there were a lot of bags.  We went into the camp site. We settled in and unpacked. I was hot and a lot of bugs were around. It was a good thing the bus didn’t have air conditioning because it got us used to the hot weather we would have all week.

The next morning the scouts went to their merit badges. The scouts had a lot of fun and a great time. Some of the merit badges we could get were cooking, Indian lore, and archery. It was fun for all the scouts and me. The scouts had a great time at summer camp. Our services project was to chop wood. It was hard because it was a lot of work. In order to chop wood you need to have your (Toten Chip) I don’t have it.

The scouts were glad they were coming back. The scouts hugged their moms and dads when they got off the bus. I think some of them missed their sisters, too. We went home and I bet we all took a long shower as soon as we came home.
