The September canoeing outing in the great waters of the Potomac was an absolute blast. We all had fun having a slightly unsettling (at least for me) trip in the Potomac. We accomplished many things, had many types of meat to cook, and had a fantastic time doing it. We arrived in the early afternoon and set up our tents proficiently. Soon after, we had our life jackets on, with a bus towing a lot of canoes. We found ourselves carrying our canoes to the water, and setting out for the adventure that was going to exceed our expectations. Dodging by rocks and hastily rowing with all of our might got us going down the Potomac with ease. Of course, being the first time being in a canoe on a river, it definitely showed, and I paid the price. After having a slight accident, we found ourselves enjoyably eating lunch at a nice, high noon. The second half of the trip was quite uneventful, besides the large fish and the even larger rocks. We settled in for the night and it seemed just as I fell asleep, I woke up again. In the morning, we did a police line and cleaned up. The outing was great, and I hope we do it next year.

I went with Troop 55 to our canoeing trip. It was a great trip consisting of around 6 hours of straight canoeing. We went to the Potomac River in Maryland and had a great experience. We did about 3 miles then took a break at camp for lunch only to continue our 6-mile trek. There were so many memorable moments on this trip; the tether-ball arena was one of the main attractions of the campsite, (so attractive in fact that morning cleanup was slower than usual). We had a cooking competition that night where the Bears came in 1st, the Vikings 2nd, and the Scorpions in 3rd. All the food looked very good. Many kids enjoyed the experience in canoes and kayaks and also had a great time. This trip was an overall success and I’m really looking forward to having another canoeing trip in upcoming years.
