Troop 55 Scout Participate at Indian Festival

Troop 55 Scouts participated in the Annual Indian Festival held at Riverbend Park on Saturday, September 8th.   The Scouts were assigned to the Archery Range activity, and the Park Managers were very grateful to have the help as this activty was by far the most popular attraction at the Festival.  Our Scouts demonstrated basic archery technique and assisted visitors at the rate of one visitor every five minutes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. without a break!  With five Scouts for five lines of people, that was a lot of archery!   Troop 55’s Cory Hodge, Nick Hodge, Steve Thorsen, Alex Reinke and Charlie Sampson had a great time instructing visitors of all ages, and received many compliments from Festival Members, Park Staff, and visitors for their good cheer, attention to safety, and extreme patience — with both adults and small children — on the Archery Range.  Sunny skies held until almost 4 p.m. when thunder and a torrential downpour forced the few remaining visitors and our Scouts to run for cover.  The boys had a great time, and really showed off their skills in archery and in BSA’s “EDGE” method of teaching skills to others.
