Troop 55 went backpacking in Central/Southern Virginia, just north of Roanoke, near the Blue Ridge Parkway … backpacking up a steep incline to view the magnificent Crabtree Falls. The following day the troop hiked up to the top of Spy Rock. The vantage point at Spy Rock normally offers georgeous views of the George Washington National Forest, but unfortunately a rainy fog had laid in on us and there wasn’t much to see. The hike and scramble up to the top of Spy Rock was still worth the visit.

It’s inevitable that this great backpacking adventure will become a regular trip in the Troop 55 outing repertoire.
